When customers have a need for your product or service there
are 6 primary questions they usually ask

Who, What, When, Where, Why and How!!!
(not necessarily in that order)
The What:
For the purposes of this parable, pretend that
your business sells cold drinks. So, which of these
people is more likely to purchase an ice cold beverage
from your small business?
a.
Someone who has been sitting
in the air conditioning all day and is not hot at all
or
b.
Someone who has been working outside on a 98
degree day?
OK, remember that we
are pretending.
Which of the two people described above represent your best
prospective customer?
The Why:
Both of these prospective customers have a
desire for a cold drink, but wouldn’t you agree that the
one who has been working outside in 98 degree heat is
much more motivated to
have an ice cold drink….. and the need for that ice cold
drink is much more urgent for this
person than the one who has not been working outside in
the heat?
So while both of
these folks may be motivated to acquire you product of
service, one of these folks has an urgent need, although
they are both prospective customers. More and more people who
are motivated to acquire something quickly are turning to
the Internet as the fastest, most accurate way to find what
they are looking for.
The When:
This person wants a cold drink…..and they want
it NOW!!!!!
Like many of your
potential customers they want what your business offers and
they don’t want to wait. They have a need and it
needs to be filled quickly. Is your small business the
first one they find when they turn to the Internet to
look?
The Where:
Now is this person who has been working outside
in the heat more likely to get in his car and drive
across town to acquire an ice cold beverage or are they
more likely to go to the nearest place that sells ice
cold drinks?
This is where the
local aspect of your business comes in. This is what we mean when
we say that most small businesses are ‘a local
proposition’.
More and more potential customers are using the Internet to
find out where the nearest store is located that
offers what they are in need of.
The Who:
All this potential new customer who is in
desperate need of a cold beverage really needs to know is

That’s the same
